Strengthening Connections: our mission

Strengthening Connections ensures that Aboriginal youth and adults interested in pursuing a post secondary education have accurate and up to date information about post-secondary programs, admission, costs, scholarships, accommodation as well as resources and support services available to them.

Activities

We convey this information through education and career fairs, community visits, and workshops that are designed for individual high-schools and School districts, Aboriginal Education Coordinators, Adult Learning Centers, and parents.

The format is highly adaptable and changes from community to community, working with the available space and depending on the particular needs of the host.  Offering career fair style formats, as well individual presentations and workshops with or without visual aids such as PowerPoint. Strengthening Connections has also served as advising panels for Q&A and offers opportunities to dialogue with parents and families. The visits can last only a few hours, or up to a full day, depending on the desire of the community.

Targeted regions

Strengthening Connections is based in British Columbia, Canada and works with communities and First Nations groups in that province.
